Renting a villa can be a good idea if you plan to have long holiday. If you calculate the total cost that you will spend in renting a villa house or staying in a hotel, I think you will see a big different on it. When I had two weeks vacation in Italy, we also rent a nice villa which was located in a small city in Italy. We really enjoyed our time there. We went there with two small kids, and we felt more relax by staying in a villa since we could cook our own food there, we could do barbecue for our lunch time and many more things that we could not do if we stay in a hotel room.
On top of that, the price to rent a villa for two weeks holiday became cheaper than the cost that we would pay if we have to stay in a hotel room.
So, if you are planning to have holiday with your family, it's probably wiser if you choose to stay in a villa. You will feel so relax there.
